GENERAL ASPECTS REGARDING COOKIES

A cookie is a small file that is stored on the user's computer when accessing a website.

Cookies are generally used to provide a user who returns to a website with a similar experience to when they left the previous session. In addition to improving the user experience, some websites may store certain information or preferences in cookies about the user's search or browsing preferences, which may be used by them for marketing purposes.

A cookie is a completely "passive" file (it contains no software programs, viruses or spyware and cannot access other information on the user's hard disk).

Their lifespan is predetermined, some expire when the (browser) session is closed and some have a longer persistence. Because the collection of cookies on a person's computer is a store of information about their preferences and browsing history, cookies can be abused by spyware programs. As a result of this indirect vulnerability, many anti-virus and anti-spyware programs delete cookies as part of their scanning/cleaning routines.

Browsers are generally set by default to accept cookies, but offer the possibility to change this option, usually in the privacy settings group. It is also possible to selectively accept or block cookies for certain websites/ domains.

Disabling or refusing to accept cookies may in some cases make browsing more difficult and some sites may even be unusable.

USE OF COOKIES

The www.spacescience.ro website is extremely restrictive on the use of cookies, they are kept to the bare essentials, namely:

• wpEmojiSettingsSupports: WordPress sets this cookie when a user interacts with emoji on a WordPress site, it helps determine if the user's browser can correctly display emoji, it is created by default and deleted when the session (browser window) is closed;
• cookieyes-consent: sets this cookie to remember the user's consent preferences so that the user's preferences are honored on subsequent visits to this site, does not collect or store personal information about site visitors, expiration 1 year.

The ISS website does not use cookies to track browsing choices, record searches performed or other potentially intrusive elements.
