1. Multidisciplinary Aerospace Research (CAM)

In the field plasma jet physics, relativistic, in order to improve the understanding of these jets, We perform, in collaboration with other researchers, numerical particle-in-cell (PIC) simulations. simulations are necessary to study shocks and instabilities in plasma, the generation and amplification of magnetic field, particle acceleration, and radiation emission in and from such jets. Within atmospheric physics we study atmospheric phenomena dangerous to aviation with a focus especially on turbulence. We analyze flight, reanalysis and wind tunnel data to understand the spatial distribution and temporal evolution of the turbulence phenomenon. We develop models functional, methods and technologies to counteract the effects of these dangerous phenomena on the safety of terrestrial and space flights. In the field cosmic ray physics ultra-high energy cosmic rays measured at Pierre Auger Observatory. These studies involve conducting Monte Carlo simulations of the cosmic rays developed in the Earth's atmosphere regarding the detector response at large-scale and identification of the primary particle. Of particular interest is the study effects of cosmic radiation on the Earth, on health living organisms as well as on electronic devices and astronauts. Because the intensity of cosmic radiation increases with increasing altitude above sea level, a note We also pay special attention to situations of radiological exposure of humans during flights. terrestrial, at cruising altitude.

2. Modeling, Advanced Space Technologies and Space Weather (MSTS)

The activities of this team are mainly focused on the development of equipment and scientific instruments dedicated to both terrestrial and space applications, from modeling, design and up to the realization of experimental models with maturity levels (TRL) of up to TRL = 8 of the specific hierarchy of technology maturity levels (TRL). Also, The collective also carries out activities in the field of Space Weather Monitoring (SWE), being both a supplier of products and services specific to this field to ESA as well as a global supplier national ionospheric activity monitoring products and services (TEC) in collaboration with Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) and the National Institute for Research and Development for Physics Pamantului (INCDFP).

3. Space Applications for Health and Safety (A3S)

The Space Applications for Health and Safety (A3S) Research Collective is dedicated to promoting an interdisciplinary approach par excellence, integrating expertise from various fields scientific and technical fields, such as (bio)engineering, medicine, rehabilitation medicine and geriatrics, psychology, biochemistry, to develop innovative solutions in health and safety. Through this transdisciplinary approach, the collective stimulates active collaboration between the academic community and industry, in Romania, with the aim of capitalizing on technologies and knowledge from space research for impactful applications in society. The main activities of the collective target a diverse range of applications, addressing challenges complex by using space technologies and expertise in studies of extreme environments survival. A priority area is the development of teleHealth solutions, including telemedicine, eHealth, mHealth, as well as assistive technologies designed to support vulnerable categories of people people, such as the elderly, people with disabilities or those affected by chronic illnesses and isolation social.
